As I travel the country sharing my story of how I broke free from an ungodly soul tie and got in position to meet and marry the man God ordained for my life, I am often asked by women in the audience, “Patricia, how do you know when a man is sent by God?”
How can you pray to discern if a man is God-sent? As a wife-in-waiting, you must ask God for discernment when it comes to dating, because Satan wants to send you a clown while God wants to send you a clone of himself.
Let me make myself clear. God did not create a man to be a clown, but instead a clone of Him. However, there are some men who, of their own choosing, decide to act like clowns. In my view, a clown is a man who disguises himself as one thing and turns out to be something else. Most clowns take off their masks when the party is over.
As I give relationship advice to women, I do not speak from theory which many relationship experts do; they are not in a relationship, but give you advice that is not working for themselves.
As a relationship expert, I speak from experience. I learned how to turn my love around by taking action on steps that were given to me, which I will share with you as well.
God has a man designed especially for your life, and the only way you will know if he’s a distraction sent from Satan is through prayer. You cannot, should not, and must not trust your flesh. There is nothing good in the flesh. A man may look good on the outside, but inwardly, be full of evil.
1 Thessalonians 5:21 reads, “But test everything that is said. Hold on to what is good.” How can you prove a man is from God? Praying allows you to see his actions more clearly than you hear his words. As women, oftentimes we get caught up in what he says rather than what he does.
I remember, years ago, I was the Sunday school teacher at the church we attended. I enjoyed baking cookies and cakes for the little ones who came to my class, and I gave them treats to hold them over between services.
One day, I was preparing to bake a cake, and when I opened the egg carton I noticed it was filled with bad eggs. In my rush to get home and prepare the cake for the next day, I failed to open the carton at the store and check its contents.
Had I opened the box, I would have seen some spoiled eggs. I would have seen the brown eggs, and I surely would have seen the cracked eggs.
That’s just how it is in some relationships, when you get in a rush and fail to open the carton and look inside. When you take time and see him through your spiritual eyes, you can see that brother man from the fifth floor has a bad temper; brother man from the fifth floor has a nasty attitude; brother man from the fifth floor doesn’t like to work; and brother man from the fifth floor likes to chase women.
Prayer opens the eyes of your understanding so you can see a man for who he is in the spirit. Prayer opens your ears so you can be in tune with what a man is saying and know if his words line up with his actions. If they don’t, he’s not ready for a wife-in-waiting, so continue praying.
How do you know when a man is sent by God?
The content of his heart will mirror that of his fathers and he will not leave you guessing about where you and he stand when it comes to marriage. He will be marriage-minded and not looking for a roommate because he knows you were created to be his helpmate.
