Dr. Patricia Shaw, The Author
It’s time for you to walk in freedom so that you can SOAR in life. It’s time for you to heal from the wounds you’ve bandaged for years. It’s time to let go of that broken relationship and move forward. It’s time to see yourself as God sees you. It’s time to love yourself as God loves you.
How do we walk in true freedom from our past? How do we allow the pain of what scarred us to heal forever? Is it even possible? Yes. It’s not simple, but it is possible.
Life is a journey filled with many lessons; we either learn them or repeat them until we learn. It’s filled with people who bring us sorrow and those who give us hope for tomorrow. It’s filled with bumps and bruises and challenges that often confuse us. If we take time to open our minds we find that our journey leads us to our destiny and causes us to find our true purpose in life.
When we realize we can start over again right, we become unstoppable. We no longer allow pain from our past to hold us hostage because we understand where we’re going. We no longer allow our past to impact our present because we understand what we can and cannot control.
Our destiny is not connected to who we used to be, but to who we are becoming. There were many nights I cried while writing my books hoping you would understand the power and authority God has given you. When we believe in the power given to us, we can conquer beliefs that limit us from being all God created us to be. We can accomplish our goals and ultimately possess the promises He has spoken to us.
Romans 8:28 tells us, “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.” We all have been called by God to advance His kingdom, but we can only answer the call when we walk in freedom.
When I started looking inward at myself, I found out where I thought I was in Christ, I wasn’t, and I began taking off the many masks I wore. The mask of people-pleasing because I didn’t know whose I was or who I was; the masks of self-doubt and low self-esteem because I didn’t know my worth.
When I removed these masks I lost some so-called friends because they didn’t understand where I was going, but that was fine because God knew.
When I understood my identity is not tied to friendships or kinships, but to kingship, I started seeing myself as Christ saw me, and I started speaking into existence everything I needed. I learned my worth is not in a man, but in The Man, Jesus Christ.
When I removed the masks I also took off the shoes of despair I wore far too long and replaced them with high heels. Heels that allow me to walk in freedom as I step over every doubt the enemy tries to bring to my mind. Heels that empower me to not look back but to keep moving forward. I love the freedom I get from the high heels I wear daily because they remind me not to stoop to the level others are on but to make them rise to mine.
I would be lying if I said I enjoyed every obstacle along my journey, but what I can say in honesty is every pothole, every detour, every stop sign, and even the warning lights led me to find the seven keys to spiritual freedom I now possess.
Writing is therapeutic for me and I found out there were other women who needed to hear my story and since I started writing in 2014, I have helped many women along this path to find themselves and become the woman they have always wanted to be.
